Rome accommodation

As expected, in Rome in summer it is crowded and yet, that numerous hotels and hostels provide an enormous range of accommodation, there is often trouble with the places in the middle of the season. It's best to make a reservation in advance or go straight to the EPT office, to spare my legs. Accommodation offers are normal on the Stazione Termini, but they tend to be in the middle of the high end of the range; in any event, such an offer may only be accepted, when the host has the appropriate document and when the full price is agreed in advance, preferably in writing.

Many of the cheaper hotels in the city are located near the Stazione Termini and are not the worst: in the streets on both sides of the station square - via Amendola, via Principe Amadeo, via Marghera, via Magenta and via Palestro are just five of them - there is a line of cheap hotels, and in some buildings there are guest houses.

Closer to the center and in more picturesque surroundings, you can find accommodation in hotels in the centro storico, sometimes completely inexpensive, but in summer there is often a shortage of places - it's best to call, to make sure. It is also worth considering the possibility of accommodation on the other side of the river in the Borgo district - a nice area away from the hustle and bustle of the center, not far from the Vatican and St.. Peter.

Youth hostels and student accommodation

Hostel of the Foro Italico, avenue of the Olympics 61 (3964709). Official IYHF Hostel in Rome, with beds in the general bedroom more or less 13 000 L per person, including breakfast for members; the membership card can be purchased on the spot. Not too close to the center and not easy to reach from Termini: bus no 492 or by metro line A to Ottaviano, then by bus no 32. From the center by bus no 48 z Piazzale Flaminio. YWCA, via C. Balbo 4 (» 460460). Only for women, much more advantageously located than the IYHF shelter, ten minutes walk from Termini, but not particularly cheap: 30000 L for one, 40000 L for two, no bedroom. Night silence from midnight.

Student accommodation. In high season (when. VIII-beginning. IX) the university rents out student accommodation for more or less 14000 L per person with breakfast in singles or doubles. The dormitories are located on viale Ministero Affari Esteri 6 i via Cesare de Lollis 20. Information in EPT or AIG, address as above.

Wokół Termini Station

Capitol, via G. Amendola 77 (• 462617). One step higher in terms of price than most hotels in the area, but comfortable. Twos about 50 000 L.

Florins, via P. Amadeo 62 (• 465065). He recently received a second star - two around 50000 L.

German, via Calatafimi 14 (• 486919). Nice and cheap. Two about 35000 L.

katy, via Palestro 35 (» 4827385). One of the cheaper ones east of the station. Twos about 30000 L.

Perugia, via del Colosseo 7 ( 6797200). At quiet, but a central street, two about 30000 L.

pieces, via P. Amadeo 79 ( 734633). Pleasant salary with uniform prices 25000 L per person. The same people also own Stella Elsa in the same building - identical standard and prices.

Rasella, via Rasella 127 (• 462042). A little further on foot from Termini, but it's worth it, due to its location ten minutes from the Spanish Steps. And the prices - approx 30 000 L for two - are among the lowest in Rome.

Romano, Largo C. Ricci 32 (• 6795851). Centrally located hotel with favorable prices, two about 30000 L.

Rosetta, via Cavour 295 (•461598). A bit more expensive, but pleasantly located near the Colosseum. Twos 45 000 L.

Tony, via P. Amadeo 79 (• 736994). Nice rooms after approx. 45 000 L.

Villafranca, via Villfranca 9 (• 4940206). Standard and two-star prices - approx. 60 000 L. Vulcania, via Cavour 117 (• 485856). Cheap two-star hotel; deuce from 45000 L.

Around the center

Abruzzi, Rotunda Square 69 (• 6792021). Opposite the Pantheon, What is included in the price; still not very expensive - 50000 L for two.

Of the Bezel, Piazza del Paradiso 68 (• 6561080). In the vicinity of Campo dei Fiori, an unsophisticated hotel with doubles of approx. 40 000 L.

Navona, via dei Sediari 8 (• 6542560). Perfectly located pensione run by an Italian-Australian couple. Twos approx. 45 000 L.

Piccolo, via dei Chiavari 32 (• 6542560). Cheap hotel conveniently located near Piazza Navona. Twos from approx. 30000 L.

Pomezia, via dei Chiaviari 12 (• 6561371). Down the street from Piccolo, with slightly cheaper twos.

Emerald, via dei Chiodaroli 11 (• 6875929). Twos approx. 50000 L.

Sole, via del Biscone 76 (• 6540873). One of the most nicely located hotels in the center, wychodzi na Piazza del Campo dei Fiori. Twos approx. 45 000 L.

Across the river: Borgo i Trastevere

La Royere, Vicolo San'Onofrio 5 (• 6540739). Nice little pensione in Trastevere with doubles of approx. 45 000 L.

Manara, via Luciano Manara 25 (• 5890713). In the heart of Trastevere. Deuces from 35000 L.

Wash, via Crescenzio 87 (* 6875357). A two-star hotel with doubles from 45 000 L up. Nice family atmosphere.

Camping

All Roman campsites are located not far from the city, have fairly easy access, but they are not cheap. Camping Flaminio is the closest, 8 km north of the center on via Flaminia Nuova (» 3279006); bus no 202, nr 204 or no 205 z Piazzale Flaminio, which can be reached by metro line A from Termini. In opposite direction, near the sea in Ostia there is Camping Capitol, via Castelfusano 45 (• 5650621), with a better service base and a bit cheaper, but located much further - take the train to Ostia Lido and take bus no 5.
